About the Project

新的三层Kimball小学为学生提供学业成功所需的空间和资源. The approximately 95,000平方英尺的学校满足了该地区的基础教育要求，并为多达650名学生提供了空间. 它旨在为所有学生提供一个公平、安全和鼓舞人心的学习环境.

合作过程产生了一个计划，保留了用于教育和娱乐的宝贵户外空间. 该设计被组织成学习集群，教室围绕着学习公地. 在访客进入学校前，应先进入行政办公室，确保入口安全.

新学校建筑经过深思熟虑的设计，以适应周围环境，颜色选择反映了自然元素. 一个顶篷在前门附近提供了等待和聚集的区域.

Sustainable Design and Construction

In keeping with SPS’s clean energy goals, 新学校的运作不需要任何化石燃料. In addition, 屋顶的设计是为了容纳太阳能电池板, 哪一种可以抵消未来建筑80%的能源消耗.

Features to reduce energy use:

  • Geothermal heating

  • Storm water management with rain gardens
  • Native and drought-resistant plantings
